Rise, Voices of the Jedi

Rebel Fleet from Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker

Spoilers below the fold. My thoughts on the movie to follow later, and it’s not a spoiler to say I personally loved it. Also, the image on this post has nothing to do with the contents. It’s just bad-ass, so I’m including it.

The voices of all the Jedi speak to Rey at the end. Here’s the list, from IMDB:

  • Hayden Christensen … Anakin Skywalker (voice)
  • Olivia d’Abo … Luminara Unduli
  • Ashley Eckstein … Ahsoka Tano
  • Jennifer Hale … Aayla Secura
  • Samuel L. Jackson … Mace Windu
  • Ewan McGregor … Obi Wan Kenobi
  • Alec Guinness … Obi Wan Kenobi (archive sound)
  • Frank Oz … Yoda
  • Angelique Perrin … Adi Gallia
  • Freddie Prinze Jr. … Kannan Jarus
  • Liam Neeson … Qui-Gon Jinn

I love everything about this, but the highlight for me is that we get both ObiWans and we get the callout to Clone Wars (Ahsoka) and Rebels (Ahsoka and Kannan). This is more meaningful to me than including the Ghost in the armada.

I will say that all of us can agree with General Pryde about the “error” of Starkiller Base. The funny thing is that this is in Abrams’ own script. A better mea culpa you couldn’t ask for.

UPDATE: Of course, Ahsoka’s inclusion in the above list implies that she’s probably canonically dead by the timeline of the third trilogy. There’s no other interpretation. Even Dave Filoni’s tease to the contrary on twitter doesn’t necessarily imply we will see Ahsoka alive post-RoS. It more likely means that Ahsoka isn’t dead after her encounter with Vader in Rebels. She may well show up in a new TV series (animated or otherwise), as per Obi-Wan.
