		<description>It's strange, almost everyone I know who's seen this series has started (as it seems you have) halfway through the series, then gone back to watch the beginning (having reactions similar to what you say in your post).  I, on the other hand, missed the beginning and didn't want to start watching any episodes until I could watch the beginning.  I ended up buying the first searson DVD (which includes the miniseries) and plowing through the entire thing in less than a week.  It's definitely an excellent series, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the next DVD set.

It seems that TV shows are starting to move towards having really large, multi-episode (multi-season) arcs as opposed to simple weekly arcs.  This is an interesting phenomenon, though it makes it difficult to join in the middle of a series (which is why I ended up buying the DVDs)...</description>
